Woman Spray Paints New Courthouse Over Divorce
Generally, your job as client is to be on your best behavior and do as your lawyer advises. It's almost always in your best interest to leave the decisions to the professionals. There are many things you can do to make your divorces less painful, less traumatic, and more affordable. This isn't one of them:
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
A woman caught spraying graffiti on the new Duval County Courthouse downtown was arrested late Thursday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police said an officer on patrol spotted 35-year-old Audrey Dostie spray painting the walkway that leads to the courthouse.
According to court records, Dostie has been going through a divorce and custody case, and her husband filed a restraining order against her because of domestic violence.
Dostie was charged with criminal mischief of more than $1,000 and interruption of business or utilities.
Those arriving at the courthouse earlier Friday saw broken hearts spray painted on the new $350 million courthouse's columns, along with AA and an angry statement to a judge on the sidewalk.
Workers pressure washed and scrubbed the paint off Friday morning.
"It's just bad that someone would come and paint a building or any building, to be honest with you, much less my building," said Mike Tatum, of the city's Public Buildings Division. "It was terrible where they spray painted purple stuff all over the building."
Police said Dostie's rampage didn't stop at the courthouse. They said she also hit the corporate headquarters of Dostie homes, a family business of her husband. Police said she spray painted similar graffiti and messages to her husband and son.
